       Here at CCDA we understand that many people have deep-rooted fears and anxiety related to going to the dentist. Virtually half of the population does not seek regular dental care mainly due to anxiety and the fear of pain associated with dental treatment. Many patients can trace the beginning of their fears to a particularly painful incident that occurred long ago, and their anxieties have only been magnified since that time. At CHICO CREEK DENTAL ARTS, our mission is to provide state-of-the-art dental services in a safe, relaxing, and anxiety free manner. We accomplish this via the use of intravenous medications and other forms of sedation. We have been providing intravenous (IV) sedation to our patients for well over 30 years, but are aware that not everyone has been informed of its availability or its benefits. While local anesthetics can be very effective in controlling pain during a dental procedure, they do not inhibit the anxiety caused by the sounds, sights, smell and other events. Intravenous sedation is very effective in eliminating all of these factors. It is a safe and pleasant way to accomplish treatment and enables us to perform more work at each visit, which minimizes the number of appointments needed! We can perform all types of dental procedures under sedation and have been providing this service in Chico since 1976. For patients who may require a deeper level of sedation or close medical management, treatment in the hospital is also available. Dr. Ryan has been a member of the Medical Staff at Enloe and Community Hospitals since 1977. He studied Hospital Dentistry, Oral Medicine, and Oral Biology at the University of California Medical Center in San Francisco.
